The more that you read, the more things that you’ll know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.Dr. Seuss
My eldest daughter unintentionally inspired me to read a book-a-week this year. Of course, she’s a well-practiced, voracious reader. For me, it’s more of a stretch.
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t read one book cover-to-cover last year! That’s highly unusual, but it’s an admission that I’m spending way too much time staring at screens, and not enough smelling the sweet pages of books.
The event that triggered this reading marathon was a Partington family browse through a used bookstore, on Boxing Day.
So far, I’m keeping pace. Just. Currently on book five and it’s the first week of February. Check in with me later in the year, and ask me how I’m doing.
As encouragement, reading a book-a-week amounts to only forty to forty-five pages a day, even giving oneself a day’s break.
Faced with so many enticing possibilities, I’m alternating between fiction and non-fiction. My biggest challenge remains deciding which book to read next.
Books are like people, in that they’ll turn up in your life when you most need them.Emma Thompson
Here’s a question for you …
What five books would be must-reads if you committed to doing more reading this year?
Blessings on your home,
