Christmas Then and Now

I’ve been thinking about Christmas and worship, so sharing some seasonal thoughts, hoping something here might resonate with you …

The Lord of all creation may be worshipped
Anywhere.

On a cross, in a stable,
On a hilltop, under gable;
In the heart of your own town square.
Any where.

God’s way was a smart incarnation
For rescuing man from his sin
He’d used a flood once and had promised
Not to do that ever again.

It began in a low, stinking stable
One-by-one each glad worshipper arrived,
Unaware of the redemptive high purpose
Father, Son, Holy Spirit contrived.

Adoration explodes from the heavens!
The sweetest angelic high sounds
Burst forth to each niche of creation,
A table-turning redemptive shakedown.

We’re all formed and made ready to worship,
But some be not ready, not just yet,
So we shop ’til we drop seeking something
Or someone, hoping needs will be met.

Paper-thin hearts hiding faces
Of a condition not totally aware, though
Outside of our small proud safe places,
Some reach for him right then and there.

Heaven’s throne room is like Bethl’hem stable,
Save lighting, smell, beasties and straw,
One-by-one creatures fall down in worship
The Lamb on the throne, all in awe.

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!
Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
To receive glory and honour and power,
For you created all things,
And by your will they existed
And were created.”

Revelation 4:8b, 11

The one true God may be worshipped
Anywhere.

On a cross, in a stable,
On a hilltop, under gable;
In the heart of your own town square.
Any where.

Happy Christmas from my house to yours!

  1. Robert,

I LOVED this! So creative and on target. I particularly enjoyed this section:

Heaven’s throne room is like Bethl’hem stable, Save lighting, smell, beasties and straw, One-by-one creatures fall down in worship The Lamb on the throne, all in awe.

Thanks for sharing you creative gifts with the world to show off Jesus and call them to worship Him.

I am hoping this season finds you and your loved ones drawing closer in worshipper to the “Lord of all creation.”
